First edition. Yellowish-green cloth. 117 pages. A detailed guide to conducting a kindergarten in one's home, based upon the teachings of Friederich Frobel. This includes explanations for incorporating educational play into both outdoor and indoor activities, and using whatever might be in the home for play and educational tools. Nora Archibald Smith was an American born author, the sister of Kate Douglas Wiggin and writer of many children's books, as well as being an advocate for kindergarten as envisioned by Frobel. Friederich Frobel was a German educator who created the concept of kindergarten, as well as being an early advocator for the unique educational needs of children. While his ideas were initially dismissed, they eventually took hold in Germany, the United States and other countries in the late 1800's to early 1900's (see wikipedia for the previous information). GOOD condition. Heavy fading and offsetting to the book along the extremities, with some browning present. Minor soiling. A small spot present to the center rear cover. Light edgewear. Interior clean and solid. Minor foxing to the fore edge, with a few spots present in the fore edge margins. Small chip to the center fore edge of page 7.
