First edition. Blue cloth with decorative emblems on the front covers. 250, 263 pp. Illustrations by R. Caton Woodville. With a few small maps. A detailed history of the struggle between Napoleon and his French army and Prussia, chronicling the fighting at Jena in 1806, as well as the commencement of fighting 1813 upon Napoleon's taking refuge in Prussia upon his failures in Moscow. This includes the battle for Berlin, fighting in Leipzig, etc. GOOD+ condition. General fading and minor scuffing to the covers, a bit heavier to the rear covers. Minor soiling. Cloth scuffed and worn along the extremities, with some splitting and fraying. Previous owner's stamped library bookplate in the inside covers, somewhat mimicking a library bookplate, although there is no indication this was a library. Text blocks clean and solid.
