Stiff card wraps. 153, 133 pages. Single-sided typescript pages with title pages and covers apparently printed by a publisher in Nantes. With tipped in photo plates throughout. Signed and dedicated by Rene Picard to a Milo M. Noeve of the Henry du Pont Winterthur museum. ALL TEXT IN FRENCH. A detailed look at the porcelain trade between Europe and China, with the first volume studying the ships, their use and construction and the voyages to China. The second volume studies the various companies operating or established in China by various European countries, and includes many examples of porcelain pieces. GOOD condition, ex-museum library. Pocket, pastedown and spine labels present, as well as minor library notations on the verso of the title pages. Spine label beginning to lift off the second volume, with the label from the first volume gone, leaving a light rectangle at the base of the spine. Minor soiling, fading and edgewear to the covers, with minor browning along the extremities. Interior clean and solid.
