Plate 27. Femme de L'Isle de Paques. (Woman of Easter Island). An engraving, after work by William Hodges, consisting of portraits of various natives encountered on voyages with Captain Cook in the Pacific. Appear to be from a French language work, probably late 1700's. Engraved by Benard Direx. Measures 8 ½ by 11 ½ inches tall. With binding holes along the left edge and rough cut fore edges and bottom edges. In GOOD or slightly better condition. Moderate browning to the paper. A 4 by 2 inch faint dampstain along the center left margin, slightly affecting the engraving.
