San Francisco: William Doxey, Publisher, 1895. Wraps. Good. Item #013730
Illustrated wraps. 16 pp., including covers. A few black and white illustrations throughout, including a sequence of four cow illustrations advertising Burgess's Purple Cow poem collection. A single issue of this little magazine noted for its experimental attempts at printing and typography, while adopting an editorial stance that anticipated Modernist work and used humor and nonsense to satirize literary culture at the time. This issue with a few short poems, essays and other work. GOOD condition. Uneven toning and faint foxing, mostly to the lower front cover. Small hole in the upper portion of one leaf, resulting in minor loss of text. (MacLeod, American Little Magazines, p. 344 and others).
