Stated second edition, with an added note not issued in the first edition, being a statement from Judge John Pitman to Reverend Wayland. Pamphlet, lacking any wrappers issued. 32 pp. A work reflecting on the events surrounding the then very recent Dorr's Rebellion Rhode Island, recalling through allusion and in some detail, the basic events of the rebellion, taking a slight "Charterite" stance (against Dorr and his actions), although advocating for the enhanced voting rights sought after by Dorr and his supporters. Wayland alludes to the misfired cannon, the non-attack on the Providence Arsenal, as well as Dorr supporters from other states, while also asserting that God was on the side of good in ending the insurrection. Dorr's Rebellion arose out of disenfranchisement incorporated into the original constitution that allowed only property owners to vote, thereby giving rural citizens more power over the rising population of those in the cities. GOOD condition. Slightly ex-library with a few markings to the title page. Faint fold crease present. Minor toning, offsetting and foxing. Light soiling. Some wrinkling.
