First printing with no other printings given. Hardcover in unclipped jacket. This particular volume has TWO jackets, perhaps a mistake in the publishing process. A classic work by Mailer containing the interesting essay on cultural relations in the US titled "The White Negro." Also included are many short stories and other essays including some informative reviews of Samuel Beckett's "Waiting for Godot." One jacket is in GOOD condition, while the one beneath is in VERY GOOD condition. The book is also in VERY GOOD condition. The jacket in good condition has minor to moderate soiling and darkening. Some scuffing is present, especially along the extremities. Some small chips and tears to this jacket along the spine and the rear panel. The jacket in VERY GOOD condition has some minor general darkening and scuffing. Light edgewear with minor pulling/chipping to the spine and a small tear along the lower rear edge. The book itself has minor soiling, rubbing and light fading. Minor soiling along the top page edges. Text is clean and solid with light toning to the pages. Nice copy of this first edition in VERY GOOD condition.
