Stated complete and revised edition. Compiled, abridged, edited and illustrated by Frank Forester (Henry William Herbert). Green cloth. A reissue of "The Sportsman's Vade Mecum" of 1856, containing material not in that work on dog breaking, although this is a later printing of the reissue (first published in 1857, this published in 1873). 663 pp. With a few illustrations. A detailed guide to the raising and training of dogs for hunting, as well as for their general care, with chapters on a few specific breeds. GOOD condition. General fading, some scuffing, minor discoloration and soiling. Extremities scuffed. Owner's signature on the first endpaper. Minor toning in the interior. BAL 8158.

A collection of hunting stories involving the various hunting dogs owned by the author, editor for Field and Stream magazine in the 1920's and 30's and active in many conservation groups. In GOOD condition with moderate darkening to the covers. Moderate foxing to the spine and rear cover. Minor soiling and scuffing. Small paint spot on the front cover fore edge. Extremities scuffed with fraying to the head of the spine. Interior clean and solid. Minor foxing to the fore edge, not affecting the text.

No date. Original wraps. Stated sixth edition. 68 pages plus 41 illustrations and a fold out chart showing the pedigree and line of descent for this breed. Only 32 plates are called for in the table of contents. A work providing the origin and history of the Irish Terrier, as well as discussing care, breeding, training, showing and standard points for the breed. EX-LIBRARY in GOOD condition. Pocket present on the first endpaper and call letters in white ink present at the base of the spine. Library stamp crossed out at the top of the table of contents. Some soiling to the covers, with creasing to the corners. Moderate creasing to the spine. Minor scuffing to the covers, a bit heavier along the extremities. Minor curling present along the cover edges. Minor foxing to the rear cover with moderate foxing to the first and last few pages and heavy foxing to the page edges. Interior solid and clean with moderate foxing to one plate. The fold out chart is torn out and laid in.

Divided into three sections, each bound separately (and bound together as a whole), this work provides the standards for Dalmatians, including photos, as set by the AKC. Another section is devoted to the pedigree of various male Dalmatians, with the third section devoted to female Dalmatians. These sections also feature photos of the various dogs. In GOOD+ condition with minor to moderate soiling and scuffing to the covers and along the spiral binding in the interior. Minor edgewear. Interior clean and solid with minor darkening along the extremities.

An in depth work on the Dachshund, including its history, breeding and care. POOR jacket on a GOOD book. Moderate soiling with moderate to heavy darkening and uneven fading to the jacket. Some foxing. Heavy chipping and tearing along the extremities and the hinges of the jacket flaps. Overall rather heavy wear to the jacket. Mostly minor soiling to the covers. Moderate fading. Some scuffing and bumping to the extremities. Moderate foxing to the page edges. Interior solid, with a slightly shaken binding. Mostly minor foxing scattered throughout, with some offsetting to a few pages where newspaper clippings had been laid in. Previous owner's signature on the first endpaper. A few stray marginal notes in the text. Reading copy.

In GOOD condition. Moderate fading and some scuffing to the covers, especially along the extremities. Minor scattered soiling, with a small noticeable area near the upper front corner. Minor foxing to the preliminaries. Binding cracking along the lower section of the front interior hinge. Text block is solid. General fading to the photos and text.
