Moderate scuffing to the covers and extremities. Heavy fading to the spine with title handwritten in white ink. Interior clean and solid with moderate browning to the text.

Geared toward children, this work offers information on keeping various animals for pets, from cats and dogs to woodchucks, raccoons, skunks, various types of birds, reptiles, etc. Anna Comstock was an early promoter of nature education, and was recognized posthumously for her work in this field. The book is in GOOD condition. Somewhat moderate soiling, mostly ingrained dust, to the covers. Uneven heavy fading, especially to the spine. Minor scuffing and edgewear. Text solid with minor foxing to the pages with photos and general minor darkening. More moderate foxing to the blank side of the frontispiece. Previous owner's inscription on the first endpaper. Solid first edition of this work.

no date, presumed 1880s. Blue printed wraps. Pagination runs 103-134, with text ending mid-sentence on the last page, and presumably beginning mid-passage at the beginning. Color plate of Titmice at the front, with black and white illustrations of the Brazilian Motmot, a Trogon, and other birds. A single part (#25) of this work that is often found as a complete bound volume, presumably originally issued in parts as this. With sections on the klecho swallow, various trogons, kingfishers and swallows. GOOD condition. Offsetting along the wrappers' extremities. Minor soiling, fading and toning. Faint owner's stamp on the lower front cover. Minor toning in the interior.
