no date, presumed mid 1900s. Small squarish booklet. 14 pages including covers. An advertisement/ specimen book for the typeface Trajanus, a medieval style font. With an introduction by the designer Warren Chappell, as well as examples of different sizes, bold imprints, etc. Warren Chappell was a noted American book and typeface designer, with Trajanus being a prominent example. He worked with John Updike on book designs, as well as with the Alfred Knopf publishers. VERY GOOD condition. Minor soiling and smudging to the covers, mostly to the rear. Faint pencil edit/correction to the last page.

With a section on urban collage (the blending of fonts and styles in one area), and a consideration of the building as a sign. VERY GOOD condition. General fading and minor edgewear.

Stiff card covers in dull pink wrappers, houses in matching cardboard slipcase. 16 pages. Examples of type design throughout, as well as a full page facsimile on tissue paper. A letter describing the author's process for designing typefaces, including illustrated examples of his technique. Written by William Addison Dwiggins, an American book and type designer, noted for his work with Alfred Knopf and the Lakeside press, as well as for his harsh opinions of book designs in the early 1900s.VERY GOOD book in a GOOD slipcase. Minor soiling, scuffing, fading and bumping to the slipcase. Minor fading to the book.

Minor toning and edgewear.

General fading. Some creasing at the corners.
