Green cloth in unclipped jacket. Folio. 460 pp. Black and white photos throughout. Reprint of the 1918 original. A visual study of garden ornament by Gertrude Jekyll, incorporating her philosophy of a melding of architecture in relation to the decoration and layout of gardens. Through extensive use of photographs, Jekyll offers opinions on various decorating concepts, commenting on the examples given. Gertrude Jekyll was an influential British horticulturist and garden designer, designing hundreds of gardens in Britain and noted for her application of philosophies from the Arts and Crafts movement (Wikipedia). VERY GOOD condition. Minor fading, rubbing and edgewear to the jacket. Minor fading to the book. Owner's signature on the first endpaper.

No jacket. 124 pp. Black and white photos throughout. Part of the Little Garden Series. A guide to aspects of landscape gardening and architecture, discussing outdoor living rooms, lawns, flower gardens, rock and wall gardens, tool houses and cold frames, etc. With several sections on gardens of Maple Cove. Fletcher Steele was an American landscape architect, known for his gardens designed in the English Arts and Crafts style, transitioning to Art Deco designs in the mid 1920s. GOOD+ condition. Minor fading and rubbing to the covers. Light soiling to the rear cover. Heavy browning/offsetting to the endpapers. Ownership signature present. Some toning to the paper.

Greenish blue cloth. Quarto. 416 pp. Ads and illustrations throughout. A bound volume of the first 13 issues of this magazine devoted to farming and homesteading in Britain, containing articles on tending to livestock and chickens, beekeeping, agriculture and gardening, cooking recipes, ideas/patterns for clothing, tips for cottage building, etc. GOOD condition. Moderate fading to the covers, with some scuffing, soiling and a few small stains. Cloth missing from the lower 2 inches of the spine, with a 1 inch split along the lower front hinge. A few other smaller splits to the cloth along the hinges. Some bumping and fraying to the cloth along the extremities. Slight weakening to the binding. Heavy uneven browning to the paper, with minor scattered soiling and a few small underlines in the text throughout. Faint stale odor to the book.
