The first examines the role of prisons in America, analyzing the language used in describing the system, as well as the political purposes behind the system maintained in the US, especially in relation to African-American populations. The second, originally given as a speech at a Black Panther Party sponsored event, considers the economical effects (and potential benefits to the ruling class) of racism, discussing the concentration of wealth in Nazi Germany and fascist Italy, drawing parallels to the US. VERY GOOD condition. Minor toning and browning.

Wraps, with red and white stripes on the front cover. 83 pp. As indicated in the foreword, this work offers a guide to the theories, principles and beliefs of the Young Communist International group, drawing on Marx's discussions on juvenile labor and outlining efforts, struggles and beliefs in regard to education, war, and labor. All with a focus on the youth and its position as a vanguard in the communist movements. A youth organization affiliated with the Comintern, the Young Communist International formed in the aftermath of World War I, growing out of several socialist groups. It suffered through various factions and infighting, eventually coming to an end in 1943 (along with the Comintern). GOOD condition. Moderate to heavy darkening to the wraps, with minor to moderate soiling. Some staining and dampstaining to the wraps. Extremities scuffed, with some curling and creasing. Light toning in the interior.

no date(1950). Printed wraps. 13 pp. A study of 'two approaches to Jewish culture in America: the bourgeois-nationalist and the working-class internationalist,' asserting that the latter is correct, and 'based on the class conscious Jewish worker and seeks to unite Jew and non-Jew against anti-Semitism,' (see Seidman S31 for aforementioned quotes). Morris Schappes was an educator at the City College of New York, who was charged with perjury for his testimony regarding Communist associates at the school and in the New York educational system. A member of the Communist Party, he also served as editor of the magazine Jewish Life (or Jewish Currents). GOOD condition. Minor toning, soiling and creasing to the piece.

The piece also discusses reform through education, liberative ameliorative and other means, seemingly advocating reform over revolution. GOOD condition. Uneven minor to moderate soiling to the exterior, with some scuffing, uneven darkening and browning. Some wrinkling and creasing at the corners. Minor tearing along the spine. Small spot of staining affecting the last few pages.

The Berlin Conference of 1954 was a meeting between the US, the Soviet Union, France and Britain, in which the Korean War, France's war in Indochina and peace in Europe was discussed. Although little was achieved, it did lead to further talks, as well as to the Soviet Union agreeing to withdraw from Austria were it declared a neutral country. GOOD condition. Moderate fading and scuffing to the wraps. Minor foxing and soiling. Paper toned. Seidman S246.

With brief news on various gatherings, seven demands of tobacco workers, etc. The Popular Socialist Party of Cuba was a Communist party of Cuba, formed in 1925 and merging with what would become the Communist Party of Cuba in 1961. The party initially supported Batista in the 1940s, before changing its stance. GOOD condition. Ex-library, with several stamps to the front cover. Heavy toning to the paper. Minor chipping/flaking along the spine edge.

The Quotidien du Canada Populaire was a newspaper issued by the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist), a political organization still active in Canada today, although differing somewhat from the Communist Party of Canada.
