Stated first edition. Black cloth in unclipped jacket. 210 pp. With a section of black and white photos. A detailed account of an ill-fated mountaineering/climbing expedition in the Himalayas in 1957, an attempt to climb Mount Haramosh, that ended in an avalanche and a struggle to endure through harsh conditions. GOOD condition. Jacket browned, with some soiling and minor staining. Some dark scuffs to the rear panel, with a bit heavier overall wear to the rear. Jacket scuffed along the extremities, with a few minor chips. Minor general fading, scuffing, soiling and edgewear to the book. Interior a bit browned.

Stated first edition. Green cloth. No jacket. 93 pp. Black and white photos throughout. An account of the ill-fated German expedition attempting to summit Nanga Parbat in the Himalayas. The ninth tallest mountain in the world, Nanga Parbat is considered one of the hardest to summit, due to weather and location. GOOD condition, ex-library. Remains, of a pocket, spine label and bookplate present. Several stamps and markings present in the interior. Heavy offsetting to the covers. Moderate browning to the cloth, with spotting and foxing to the rear cover. Some soiling and staining to the covers. Spine browned and worn looking. Extremities bumped and frayed. Text block cracked in several places, with scattered moderate foxing throughout.

A follow up to the first autobiography by Chris Bonington, detailing his adventures in mountain climbing and as a photo journalist, including climbing the Central Tower of Paine in Chile, the first direct winter ascent of the Eiger North Face, a canoe trip down the Blue Nile, and an expedition to Annapurna. Chris Bonington is noted British mountaineer, climbing Everest and other notable peaks. VERY GOOD jacket on a GOOD+ book. Minor fading, rubbing and edgewear to the jacket. General fading and minor edgewear to the book. Text block cracked but intact, at the title page. Short ink note on the half title that precedes the text.

Blue illustrated cloth with beige cloth spine. 300 pages. Black and white and color photos throughout. With the signature of Edmund Hillary (E.P. Hillary) on lined paper TAPED to the inside front cover. No provenance established for this signature. A detailed account of the first successful ascent of Mount Everest, including an account of the summiting by Sir Edmund Hillary. GOOD condition. Heavy chipping, tearing and small areas of loss along the jacket extremities. General browning, minor soiling and staining to the jacket. Ownership signature in ink in several places on the jacket, book cover and inside the book (including in text). Minor fading and edgewear to the book. Yellowed tape on the inside covers over the ownership signatures/gift inscription. Minor toning to the paper.

A photo documentary of various Swiss expeditions to Mount Everest, preceded by a brief introduction that is followed by many black and white photos, interspersed with descriptive commentary and maps depicting location/route. This includes East Nepal, the Khumbu Icefall area, the Lhotse Face on Everest, camp at the South Col, etc. GOOD condition. Heavy uneven fading, especially along the extremities, with moderate foxing to the cloth in the same area. Minor soiling and scuffing. Light toning in the interior.

Printed wraps. Large folio. Pagination runs 27-46, plus 20 pages of ads. With black and white photos throughout. ALL TEXT IN FRENCH. A single issue of this magazine documenting current events through images, with accompanying articles. Of note in this issue is an article documenting an 'Ecole de Grimeurs' a school or rock climbers/mountaineers. This two page spread is accompanied by black and white photos showing rope work involved in ascending a rock spire and traversing, by rope, between two spires. This is presumed to be in the French Alps, perhaps Chamonix. Also included is an article documenting the second war in the Balkans, an eventual prelude to World War I. GOOD condition. Minor soiling, foxing and fading to the covers, with some browning along the extremities. Light wrinkling along the extremities. Offsetting present along the rear cover extremities. Upper rear corner creased. Minor toning to the paper.
