1 Whittlesley, Charles et al Lake Komon Iron Property. Bound With: Property of the Magnetic Iron Co., Ashland County, Wisconsin
Cleveland, OH No Publisher 1872 no Pamphlet Good
Disbound pamphlet 4, 7 pp, plus three blank sheets. With two small inset maps. Two short works discussing iron ore deposits, their composition, location and estimated quantities. The first piece is perhaps notable for its mention of the Bad Water Chippeway Indians as well as the statement 'Experience in new settlements, has shown, that Indian villages indicate the positions of future towns, and the trails leading to those points, always prove to be on the best ground for roads.' This piece also discusses the progress of lumbermen extending roads up the Menomine (Menominee) river near the mouth of the Pine River, also mentioning the future extension of the Chicago and North Western railroad. GOOD condition. Binding edge rather rough from its disbinding. Area of dark offsetting to the upper rear blank page. Minor toning.
